Presence Film
The acclaimed director tests his film-making abilities in this innovative supernatural story filmed completely from the perspective of a ghost. As a family with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe occupies their new suburban house, the camera – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. The Black Phone Horror
The director's contained scarefest holds up well without requiring a sequel. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, multiple kidnappings has made the youth on edge. After Finney is taken by the villain and imprisoned in a cellar, he dreads a terrible outcome. Yet the old telephone mounted nearby keeps ringing, with spooky callers providing assistance, as the intuitive nightmares of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for greed in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky biopic about the fallen TV preacher and her criminal husband. Garfield portrays the greedy Jim, who proclaims early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. The couple commence monetising the American public's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, however Chastain achieves to present Tammy Faye in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
